I remember when I was getting married, about 20 years ago, in California, a blood test was required. I don't know if blood tests are still required, but would this help identify individuals with AIDs before they got married? Would this be good for the couple that is about to get married?

Apparently some states still do require this. As I understand it, it's a means of preventing the spread of STDs, particularly on the newlyweds passing it on to their children. I do believe this will be good for the couple.

I never really know that some states do require this. In my country, all that is needed is the consent of two parties and they can get married whenever they want to. We never think of that.

In our country, I haven't heard of such policy but I think it won't hurt if one will undergo HIV testing. This will help both partners not getting infected and preventive measures will be done.

I think that nowadays the majority of couples have had sex prior to getting married or even thinking about getting married. I know not all of them has, but alot has. I think that testing is a great idea, but unfortunately not all will wait till they get tested.

The least a married couple can do though is get tested before planning on having their first child. Well not just married couples but anyone planning on getting pregnant. It's a simple test but a great gift to your child.

have to agree with this though; most people today are having sex at a young age. I remember that my High School students are even involved with such case. I don’t see it but it has been the talk of the school.

weren't blood tests before marriage initially required to ensure that those who were getting married were not related?
