I always wondered what complicatons of AIDS means. I wonder what actually happens to the body when they get complications like this.

I think what happens when you gets AIDS is that your immune system becomes so weak that it can't fight off diseases. So your body becomes susceptible to all kind of diseases and it can't fight them when it gets infected.

Thanks for the great article, it was helpful and insightful. It worries me that it is so hard for people to handle this disease and it is so expensive to maintain on these strong medications.

How then would that be considered a complication of aids. It would not be classified that way, because if it were then that would be the case where any disease did that type of damage to the body. Once the body is sick in that manner it is always susceptible to other diseases caused by immune disorders.

Yeah I have heard pneumonia is the most common one. I can't repeat it enough how tragic it must be to deal with a disease like this.

I would think that any time the term complications occurs with any disease, it would usually be in reference to something else happening as a cause of a problem with the disease that you have and with something that you come in to contact with or something like that. I mean, My mom has RA, and she has complications of RA due to her lack of immune system, and due to some of the meds they put her on. But they refer to it as complications of RA.

As the name AIDS implied, complications arise out of a weakend or non-existent immune systems. Nobody really die from AIDS; they died because of their failed immune system.
