really start helping find cures, making more of an effort to help people struggling with this? When I first heard and seen the Ryan White story it really made me think,oh course it was years later that I truly understood it all. But all we ever heard about was stories about HIV/AIDS how to prevent it,walks, runs charities to help raise money. The news was filled with stories and everyone was talking about it. More people were finally opening their minds about it and talking to their children. Will it take another story like this to bring HIV/AIDS back into the media and more into the mainstream. Sure everyone knows about it and some know steps on how to prevent it but that's it. I haven't heard a story about HIV/AIDS on my local news in a long while. There is still discrimination's going on to the day and frankly it is sad. This is all over the world, yet we barely hear about it anymore. Is it just me?
I think like cancer that people who are not directly affected have a tendency to overlook it if it is not continuously shoved in their faces. Not that there is anything wrong with that it is just simply the way people are, but I think a few more stories like the Ryan White story need to be televised and passed through the channels to hit more viewers and bring this disease back into the public spotlight. This is a very beneficial and motivating act to bring about awareness and get that support rolling in if even temporary.
I really hate to say yes but America is a country spurred on by emotion. We get all wrapped up in something for a while, and then we back off. Time passes, other things happen. It loses it's punch. It's our nature. _________________ ==Go to your happy place!
