I'm not a high-risk person and I'm not HIV positive, but I wouldn't be afraid to be tested. It's crazy not to be if you think you might have been exposed.
On the other hand I do not trust anyone with a database to secure the information in it. I would provide alternate identification information to the testing facility and a valid disposable telephone number for contact if I felt the test results would someday be made public.
My insurance company and employer do not need to know the my results.
All Hiv tests are 100% confidential and no one can find out the results.
I disagree. I can say for a fact that every database has a leak and every business has a portal into the innermost files. Where ever a human is involved there is a weak link in the security of information.
Most HIV tests are linked only by a patient ID which would have to be tracked back via paperwork since the ID's on the computer are not linked to a name. ..This is something that was implemented I believe everywhere to prevent hackers with the intent to distribute the information for hate purposes.

I know PI's who have followed people to testing facilities, then later used social engineering and dumpster diving to determine the results of those persons' test.
Sometimes the social engineering happens at the test facility, sometimes against the person who was followed there, and sometimes against that persons other partners....
Given enough time and a large enough budget, anything can be found out about anyone.
Then all you need to do is to go to a free clinic and be tested. They do not verify that you give them the correct information and allow you to be tested anonymously.
