A Bristol University study of more than 43,000 people living with HIV has found that better treatments increase their life expectancy by 13 years.
A 20-year-old diagnosed today can expect to live for another 49 years.
To be honest I've associated AIDS with early death. :p Clearly the concern lies in how you live with the disease and not how you die of it, why it's called a social disease. _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be. ~Grandma Moses
Progression oh HIV/AIDS takes a long term process. An infected can live even more than 10 years especially if the manifestations / symptoms are controlled well. Proper management is needed to prevent progression of the disease.
It is true that drugs have the power to extend the lives of many but you must take it in moderation; otherwise it could be fatal on you. Remember that anything that is taken more than what is usual is bad for you.

With the treatments avaliable today, I am not surprised that this is the case. Although HIV/AIDS is a slow progressing virus, but the right drugs can prolong your life.

The good thing is that the life expectancy has changed. I remember when AIDS was a death sentence of very short term. now it's grown to where there are years to live, not just weeks or months.
As time passes, I'm sure we'll have even more advances. _________________ ==Go to your happy place!

If the choice is to risk death by treatment in favor of death by untreated disease, I say throw caution to the wind.
I have yet to hear of anyone who died from an antibiotic overdose.
