Can someone please tell me the statistics for people with HIV/AIDS? I remember when it first became an issue people were terrified to even breath the same air as an infected person in fear they too would become infected. Plus, if you got sick there were no doubt you would live a short and miserable life until you died. I know there has been many changes since those times and would like to know.

Not as short and miserable as most people think.

World Statistics as of 2007. Source: UNAIDS/WHO

The number of people living with HIV has risen from around 8 million in 1990 to more than 33 million today, and is still growing. - Not exactly the change we would have wanted. :p

Seems like the increasing rate of HIV/AIDS sufferers is alarming. The institutions concerned needs to do more to increase people's awareness regarding this illness...
