When AIDS patients enter a hospice or reach the point where they need specialized care, most of their friends and family disappears. The AIDS patient is left with know one to even share their memories with.

If you can volunteer some time at a hospice for AIDS patients you give them the type of emotional support that no one else can.

Now, this isn't the sort of thing everyone can do, but those who can should consider this as a constructive way to improve someone's quality of life, when they need it most.

That's an excellent suggestion.

I know someone who does this kind of thing in general, but I don't think she's ever spent time with AIDS patients.

I too know a few people who have done this. I did this very briefly through the AIDS foundation when I was old enough after seeing what my mom was going through.

It is an amazing gift that is irreplaceable to these people who are facing their mortality and have been forgotten by friends and family.
