If two persons who are not HIV positive have unprotected sex, what are the chances of them contracting this virus?
I mean can anybody explain the mechanisms of how this virus starts affecting the people? |

If neither of these people has ever;
had relations with other partners
had a blood transfusion or organ transplant
been infected at birth by the mother
contracted the virus through breast feeding with an infected female
transfered fluid with an infected party in any other contact
been injected intravenously on a repetitive basis at any time
you might be safe.
STD tests should be shared between partners. Refusal = disrespect. |

| Interesting advise by Eye4. This disease really seems to be a function of lifestyle more then anything else (minus the innocent spouses/offspring of the person practicing the lifestyle that is more prone to becomming infected with this virus)... |

| If both of them are not HIV positive and both of them stay faithful to each other, they is very little chance of them contracting the disease. Ofcourse you could get infected accidently when having an operation or through some other process. |

+Yes two HIV negative individuals who have sex will not contract the virus if they are faithful and there are no other exposures to the virus.
HOWEVER- HIV can be dormant for sometimes up to 6 months I believe and during those 6 months you can test negative even though you actually do have the virus. That is why it is important to test every 6 months when possible and for sure after possible exposure. |

I've been wondering about that 6 months thing. Thanks for the that bit of information. That 'testing every 6 months' is a lot more clearer to me now. |

| Yes, there are several ways to get HIV, but if 2 people are negative for it, and they are faithful to each other, they wouldnt' be able to get it that way. But if your partner suddenly tests positive for it and is insisting that he/she doesnt' know how they got it since they haven't been with anyone. I would check out all the ways you can get it and narrow down the possibilities. |

| As long as you trust your partner, and you are both known HIV negative, you should never have any issues with contracting HIV. The problem is, how many people can you really trust these days? |

Unfortunately, that is an all too true statement although it is very sad. More and more often people think that they do not have to be honest with even those closest to them. You can know and love someone for years and never really know them. I guess with that in mind, we should all be tested ever once in a while no matter what our circumstances. |
