India has slashed the cost of AIDS drugs to 38 cents per patient per day for the triple drug regimen. Thanks to Indian drug makers, the cost of the the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) plummeted in price in 2004. The treatment which earlier cost thousands of dollars can now be bought from Mumbai based Cipla and other generic companies for less than $250 per year.
Apparently India has been one of those offering drugs on HIV for cheap prices and discounts. The patent on certain drugs unfortunately will soon be a hindrance to this. _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be. ~Grandma Moses
