HIV antibodies are just one of the surrogate markers for AIDs. There are two others - CD4 cell count and viral load.

HIV Antibodies do NOT correlate with AIDS disease.

Definitely, HIV positive result does not equate to having AIDS. Positive result may also due to exposure, but the virus was not virulent enough to cause AIDS...
