I know in the United States money is being spent on trying to find a cure for AIDS but in the meantime, why try something simple?

Many people do not even wait til their partners and themselves are tested before having intercourse. It is a sad fact but a fact none-the-less.

Some people will choose abstinence, but you can't turn on the TV (it seems) without hearing about the fact that for many teens, abstinence simply means not having vaginal sex - and they don't take precautions during oral either. The challenge with HIV/AIDS on many levels is so many people want to believe that it's only something that happens to gay men and IV drug users... They seem to believe that if they aren't doing those things they'll be fine.

It is an all about me, instand gratification, thing that is going on in many people. And I hear that some people even get a thrill from feeling like they are doing something risky. Taking a chance. How do you combat that attitude?

An accidental prick from a needle can spread the disease. But I agree with many of you who say that the mentality, "that it won't happen to me", is too prevalent.

Unfortunately, not everyone is strong enough, or selfless enough, to do it. It's a sign of our times, and I think it's very sad that folks would rather risk lives rather than simply channel their energy in another direction.
