HIV, also known as human immunodeficiency virus, is a disease caused by an infection with the HI virus. The virus is very aggressive and attacks the human immunology as long as it collapses. HIV is deadly.

Infected people have to be medicated as soon as possible in order to ensure the most comfortable life, possible. The earlier the medication begins, the long the patients will live. If a patient got infected during the last years, the average time of viability is about a couple of decades (!). Thus, HIV is getting more and more a chronic illness.

Nonetheless, HIV is a very dangerous disease. The only treatment is the prevention itself. So please prevent HIV - use condoms and don't get in touch with body fluids of other people! If you don't know your HIV state, please ask your doc to test you on HIV antibodies!
